Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan was established in 2002 and the main purpose of Higher Education Commission is to upgrade the Higher Educational system in Pakistani Universities. All private and public universities for higher education are being managed by HEC.
In the Act, 1974 it was decided that University Grant Commission will manage all the higher educational matters for all the universities of Pakistan but in 2002 the Act 1974 was replaced by Higher Education Commission (HEC) and HEC is now managing the quality education in all the institutes of Pakistan.
Higher Education Commission (HEC) is also playing a vital role in announcing different scholarships for higher educational programs like for doctors and engineers in Pakistan. Different scholarships are offered for abroad studies every year by HEC.
Higher Education Commission is running many projects but some of the main projects which are mentionable here are; Higher Education Structure Development in Pakistan, to develop new Technology Parks, to increase the Research works in Universities of Pakistan, abroad Scholarships for Pakistani Students, scholarships in Pakistan, development of Higher Education Faculty in Pakistan.
As per the matter for achievements of Higher Education Commission (HEC), there is noticeable positive impact on the higher education of Pakistan. HEC has introduced digital Library System in Pakistan, now students are able to reach thousands of textbooks anywhere. HEC has promoted the research work in Pakistani Universities due to which 2 Pakistani Universities are ranked in top 600 universities in the world. HEC has also awarded thousands of PhD Scholarships for the top countries. From 2002 up till now 51 new universities are established under the supervision of Higher Education Commission (HEC).
So Higher Education Commission is doing a great job to promote the higher education in Pakistan.
