Allama Iqbal Open University admissions close today

ISLAMABAD: Today (Friday) is the last date for submission of the admission forms of MS/MPhil and PhD programmes for the autumn semester, 2013 at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).

This was announced by Board of Advance Studies and Research (BASR) Director Dr Hamid Khan Niazi. He said the admission forms could be downloaded from the university’s website www.aiou.edu.pk.

He said the admissions of PhD programmes (on MS/MPhil basis) are offered in Islamic Studies (general), Islamic studies (Quran and Tafseer), chemistry (offered in Islamabad only), Iqbal studies, Pakistani languages and literature with specialisation in Pashto, Balochi, Brahul, Sindhi, Saraiki, Punjabi) and Urdu, while the admissions of MPhil programmes are being offered in Islamic studies (general), Islamic studies (Quran and Tafseer), Arabic, chemistry (offered in Islamabad only), Iqbal studies and mass communication.

The eligibility for PhD admissionsis MPhil 1st Division/3GPA in the relevant subject and must havepassed the NTS GAT (subject) test with at least 60 percent marks while MSc with 2nd division and must have passed the NTS GAT (general) test with 50 percent marks is the eligibility foradmissions in MS and MPhil programmes,” the BASR director added.

Niazi said the NTS, GAT (general/subject) results are valid for 2 years and the students who have passed thesaid test within this period, can also apply.

In addition, AIOU Admissions Director Syed Ziaul Hasnain said the admissions from Matric to master level programmes for the autumn semester, 2013 would start from July 22. According to controller of exams, the results of ATTC, PTC, CT, BEd, MPhil economics, Arabic, Iqbalyat, Pakistani languages, PhD in Islamic Studies, Pakistani languages and Iqbalyat for the autumn semester, 2012 had already been declared and placed on the website www.aiou.edu.pk of the university. He further said the remaining results for the autumn semester, 2012 would be declared before the commencement of new admissions, which is going to be started from July 22.
