AN IT network security course run online through Charles Sturt University has attracted more than 2600 enrolments globally.
The Network Security Administrator free short course, which starts today, is aimed at system administrators, network administrators and those interested in network security technologies.
It will comprise five weekly live lectures delivered via webinars with recordings of the webinars being available for those unable to make the live events.
The course, which is being delivered with industry partner IT Masters, covers the first five weeks of the Network Security Fundamentals subject, part of CSU's Master of Information Systems Security, which is based on the EC-Council Certified Network Administrator certification (ENSA).
A recent Cisco study found there was a shortage of more than a million cyber security professionals worldwide.
IT Masters chief executive officer Martin Hale said a much higher proportion of enrolments than normal were from the United States.
``We think the high level of interest is because the United States Government, National Security Agency (NSA) and the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) have certified the Network Security Administrator course (ENSA) as meeting the 4011 Training Standard for Information Security Professionals,'' he said in a statement.
