International Admission Requirements

Similar to domestic student requirements, the requirement for admission to an undergraduate degree program is a U.S. high school diploma or its equivalency. The equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required for admission to a graduate program. International students have a few additional admissions requirements to meet before they can gain admission to Strayer University. The following are the required steps and items needed prior to enrolling in classes:
  • Contact Strayer University at studyintheus@strayer.edu to reach an Admissions Officer who will be able to guide you in the process.
  • Complete and submit a Strayer University online application with a $50 (USD) non-refundable application fee for admission.
  • Submit a certified copy of your educational documents, detailed below, such as your high school diploma or college transcripts, as these documents will not be returned to you. If you are not able to send a certified copy, your original educational documents will be required. If your documents are not in English, you must send a certified translation, as well as certified original versions:
For undergraduate applicants, you will need to submit your high school diploma certification. For graduate applicants, you will need to submit proof of completion of a United States baccalaureate degree, or approved equivalent, copies of transcripts from all colleges or universities attended, both undergraduate and graduate levels, and proof of satisfactory performance in either your Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), Graduate Record Examination (GRE), a 2.75 undergraduate grade point average on a 4.0 scale, OR evidence of graduate potential.
  • Provide evidence of English proficiency. Students whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. Information regarding the TOEFL exam can be found at http://ets.org/toefl. The minimum score for admission is 61 on the iBT version for undergraduate students and 79 on the iBT version for Graduate students. Students who score less than this will be required to enter a combined language study and academic program until attaining language proficiency before they can pursue a full-time academic program.
  • Submit a $300 (USD) tuition deposit. This tuition deposit is required as part of the admissions process, and is applied towards first quarter's tuition.
For students planning to study on campus in the U.S., the following is also required:
  • Form I-20AB - United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Form I-20AB will be issued to students residing outside of the U.S. once all admission and non-immigrant requirements are met.
  • Adequate Funds - Students are required to demonstrate that they have adequate funds to cover one year’s expenses before coming to the U.S. to study. You and/or any sponsor(s) will need to complete a Certificate of Financial Support Form , prior to I-20AB issuance. This form will need to be provided to your Admissions Officer.
  • Arriving in the U.S. – Students may not arrive in the U.S. more than 30 days before their program start date listed on their Form I-20AB. Once you arrive you need to report to the Admissions Office to complete the registration process. You will need to bring with you, your Passport, Visa, SEVIS Form I-20AB, and Form I-94 Card before you will be allowed to enroll in classes.
