New Zealand Scholarships for International Students and Financial Aid Positions, Study in New Zealand



The Asia New Zealand Foundation offers two David Holborow Memorial Scholarship awards each year to support students who are Korean descent. Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate degree level at New Zealand tertiary institutions. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents and be eligible to undertake full-time tertiary study. They must have studied for at least two years in a New Zealand secondary school. Applicants must demonstrate their Korean family background, usually parent(s), grandparent(s) or great grandparent(s). The value of the scholarship is $4,000. Application deadline is 1st December 2013.

Eligibility: Students in the following categories may apply:
-New Zealand secondary school students of Korean descent starting undergraduate studies in 2014.
-New Zealand tertiary students of Korean descent currently studying at undergraduate level.

Scholarship Description: The Asia New Zealand Foundation offers two David Holborow Memorial Scholarship awards each year to support students who are of Korean descent. The scholarships support undergraduate study at New Zealand tertiary institutions, and were established in memory of David Holborow, a former New Zealand ambassador to Korea and a director of the Institute of International Affairs (1990-1994). He founded the Korean Studies Programme in 1992 to enhance New Zealanders’ understanding of Korea.

Selection criteria: Selection will be based on:
-academic ability (minimum B+ average)
-application essay
-demonstrated interpersonal or leadership skills (for example, community service, sports, cultural or other extracurricular activities)
-demonstrated commitment to building Asia-New Zealand relations.
